$4,000,000 for Birth Injury/Cerebral Palsy

William O. Crutchlow of Eichen Crutchlow Zaslow, LLP with offices in Edison, New Jersey and Toms River, New Jersey recently settled a birth injury case on behalf of a young boy and his family. We established that there was a delay in diagnosis of a placental abruption in a full term pregnancy followed by the failure to deliver the baby in an expedited manner. As a consequence, the baby went without adequate blood supply and necessary oxygen for an extended period of time resulting in profound brain damage. The brain damage was confirmed through diagnostic radiology studies showing hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). The child is permanently physically and cognitively impaired and will require care throughout his life. We worked closely with experts in obstetrics, labor and delivery nursing, pediatric neurology, neonatology, neuroradiology, life care and vocational planning and forensic economics in achieving this excellent result for our clients. The case was settled at Mediation on behalf of the attending obstetrician and labor and delivery nurse.
